Catching Up….A Few Random Things

Hello!  So here is just a post of random things to share.  isn't that photo funny?  Do you think they could just wait their turn?  Kind of obscene huh?  My boys do love to drink some fresh water!  So let's see,  last week was my cousin's little boy's 9th birthday.  We had a little family dinner for him that was so much fun.  He had a few neighborhood friends over and some family, whick luckily included me!   We had hot dogs (love a good veggie dog!), sat outside, and played whiffle ball.  (Well they played….)

I made a chocolate chip cookie cake and got some local ice cream.  Here is the recipe for the cookie. It was delicious but not at all good for you.  I had low blood sugar symptoms the whole next day but it sure tasted good!

Have you tried barkThins?  Oh my.  They are the best thing I have eaten in a long time.  They are thin pieces of dark chocolate that are full of crunchy good things. My favorite is this pumpkin seed one.  It has sea salt which takes it over the top.  Not too sweet, a little bit salty, dark chocolate…what is not to love?  They have an almond and sea salt that is really good, and also a chocolate pretzel that is good.   You can see all the versions and read about them here.  You can see the ingredients below.

Dark Chocolate [Fair Trade Certified™ Chocolate Liquor, Fair Trade Certified™ Sugar, Fair Trade Certified™ Cocoa Butter, Soy Lecithin (an emulsifier), Vanilla], Dry Roasted Pumpkin Seeds, Sea Salt.

Pretty good ingredients for a candy. They are completely addictive so either thank me or hate me.  Mom and  I eat one for dessert at lunch but I would eat them after every meal if I could.  They sell them in some grocery stores, and in a giant bag at Costco!  :)

I am in love with Camino Bakery in Winston.  They make European style bread, delicious baked goods, and have coffee, craft beer and wine. It is downtown, with a nice seating area outside.  Although I try not to eat much of this kind of food it is a nice treat, and a great place to get a coffee and read the paper.  It is less than 3 miles from the new house….not sure if that is good or bad!

The yard at my new house has quite a few nice beds.  I am told a few owners ago was a woman who was a master gardener and planted some really nice flowers. I can't wait to see what comes up.  The beds are in need of some weeding, trimming and replanting and I am dying to get my hands in there.  This beautiful hydrangea is blooming on the side of the house.

Do you play Lumosity?  It is a series of games that are good for brain function, keeping you sharp, helping your memory.  You can watch a video about it here.  I started some time ago and try to play every day. It is fun, but some of them are really hard. I was skeptical but heard recently that my distant cousin who has a brain injury was recommended Lumosity for part of his rehab.  I only have the free version right now so I have limited games, but will purchase the whole package sometime soon.  I love to play games and at least these help you, unlike Grummy Drop which is my new obsession!

Two days this last week I wake up to find that during the night Domino puts his toy in the food bowl.  What is that about?  I think it is so funny!  Wish I could see him do it!  So….that is enough randomness for one day.  I'd love to hear what some of your latest obsessions are!  Have a good week!
